The title of this blog sought of crosses the boundary of the "song title" thing I had going, but it is a line from Mad Men that I am currently trying to catch up on, so it's still creatively acceptable.
I have been trying to find nice work outfits, considering I'm being all grown up and have a full time job, paying rent and losing my money that I've earnt to tax and bills. In this quest for outfits, I've figured out that the best work outfits were from the 1950/ 60's. The dresses and skirts these days are lacking in flaunting the aspects women can flaunt.
As the famous line in the Producers is "If you've got it, flaunt it!" I think this will boost women's self esteem and will make working life much more interesting instead of wearing tents for dresses and consider that as fashion.
Obviously I don't mean all women should be wearing and flaunting things like this...

That's just scaring everyone's eyes. Excuse me while I go and get dettol to wash my eyes out.
What I'm trying to get at are the dresses worn in Mad Men. Such as Betty Draper/ Francis and Joan Holloway. Now those ladies know how to dress.
Take Joan, my favourite character, for example.

She's very curvacious and she knows how to flaunt her assets in a tasteful manner.
She is definitely one of my inspirations for work attire.

This dress is exactly something Joan would wear and it is adorable. The dresses fit very nicely and are comfortable to wear. Not too body hugging so you see every layer of muffin top you have, but it still shows off your curves in a favourable way.
My next inspiration is Zooey Deschanel. She's probably the most recent one of my favourites in terms of fashion sense and style for work attire. I have similar dresses that I've worn to work, and I have been complimented on them. I'm thinking the "New Girl" style of Zooey. Like this one...

Mine is black with a pearl and lace collar, but it's a similar cut.
This dress is great for if you count your legs as one of your best assets and your arms as one of your least, like me.
It's cute, innocent, but a little flirty and you can always pair it up with heels or flats, which is always good for if you want to dress it up or give your feet a bit of a break.
I don't know when I turned into a fashion expert, which I'm not, but I thought I needed to write a blog because I haven't in a while and I finally have some time to do it which is AWESOME!
Anyway, have fun with the online shopping and these great looks.
Cheerio!
